How to Wash 'n' Go!
The everyday habits that keep extensions healthy and tangle-free — how to wash, dry, and sleep with your hair extensions the right way.

Extensions reward a gentle, consistent routine. Two habits matter more than anything else: how you wash and how you sleep.
Washing
- Wait 48 hours after a fresh install before the first wash.
- Wash 2–3 times a week, not daily — over-washing dries out the hair.
- Use a sulfate-free shampoo and focus it on the scalp, not the lengths.
- Apply conditioner from mid-length to ends only — never on the bonds or braided base.
- Rinse with cool-to-lukewarm water and don't pile hair on top of your head.
Drying
- Gently squeeze out water with a microfibre towel — don't rub.
- Never sleep on wet hair. Damp bonds and braids loosen and tangle.
- If blow-drying, use a low-heat setting and dry the roots/base first.
Brushing
- Use a loop brush or a wide-tooth comb made for extensions.
- Start at the ends and work upwards, holding the hair at the root to avoid tugging the base.
- Brush morning and night, and always before washing.
Sleeping
This is where most damage quietly happens:
- Make sure hair is fully dry.
- Tie it in a loose braid or low, loose ponytail.
- Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction and frizz.
What to avoid
- Sulfates, and heavy silicone or oil-based products near the roots
- Purple/toning shampoos unless your stylist recommends one
- Chlorine and salt water without rinsing and protecting first
Stick to this and your extensions stay soft, shiny, and tangle-free between maintenance visits.
